How do you know if you have a virus?

Is your computer suddenly acting a little differently?
Do you have trouble opening programs?
Are you getting GPF's (general protection faults)?
Has your word processor gone to lunch?
Are you having problems saving documents
or printing your documents?
Has your computer stopped running altogether?
Does your computer refuse to go to Symantec,
or any of the other anti-virus websites?
Freezes and hangs plaguing you?

These are possible signs that
     your PC has a virus!

Viruses can cost us a lot of time and money.
Having an up-to-date virus scanner is
a good idea in these times but it does not
guarantee your PC won't get a virus.
Viruses are coming out at an alarming rate of 15 to 25 a day.

This is just a short but meaningful

Thank You

to all the Anti Virus Companies who take the time
and effort (millions of hours) it take to keep up
with the never ending task of keeping us safe!

Have you updated your Anti Virus software today?

(Viruses morph and some are more than just one!)

If you are not comfortable with hacking your own registry, might I suggest you call in a Computer Professional to handle the problem correctly or try some of the removal tools below.

It is very hard to know if you got it all.
Hopefully you have your data backed up off the drive or burned on to a CD Rom some where.
If not, you need to before you do anything listed here
(if you can and the virus will let you)
These tools are for removal only!

They do not take the place of a good anti-virus software program, so please do yourself a favor and get one and keep it updated.

Spend the money it is more than worth the cost!

Here are some great antiviral tools from
Panda Software
, Symantec, MacAfee just to name a few
It's an all in one tool that
takes care of the
Nimba, SirCam, and Love bug

and much more
.
Click on links below to download it to your computer!

Newer version's of the all in one tools are being made every day

 PQRemove

Stinger

Also, here are some removal tools from Symantec.
Before you use any of the tools you need to
Identify the Virus you have.
Try the PQRemove
and Stinger first.
If it Identifies the virus and removes it great.
If not, start reading the Virus definitions at:

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html/

If you recently got hit with the Blaster worm
go get Zone Alarm or Black Ice or a hardware Firewall.
Blaster removal tool just downloaded from Panda Software.
Welch variant of blaster removal tool just loaded from Symantec.
Thank you Panda Software and Symantec.

The tools below come from Anti Virus software manufacturers and in no way shape or form should be considered your only form of protection!
I highly Suggest that you get a Anti Virus solution that updates daily automatically!

You are only as safe as your last
Virus update signature!

Please take into account that there are 25 to 35 new Viruses detected daily!

Beside having a full time Anti Virus software I do weekly on line scans to make sure.
If you are infected and have Windows versions ME, XP Home or XP Pro you have to shut off System restore to clean the system and then turn on system restore on again after a reboot.

Restore can and does get infected by some of the Virus's out today.
Every now and then clean out the restore points and set new points just to be safe.

Nothing can take away from an up to date Virus program
and An Experienced Computer User.

I've been sent hundreds of emails asking is this a Virus?

"Please" I beg of you don't do this!

Would you like to stack the odds against yourself on
possibly getting a Virus. This is what you are doing to
me when you forward Suspected email to me.

* An extension is the 3 letter combination after the document name ie: word.doc
Almost always a double back extension is a virus or malware and would look like this
"word.doc.pif" Word is used as a filler for what ever the documents name is by the way.

They (the Virus writers) are playing you for the chump, a sucker!

Don't become a sucker!

Each attachment is a mine field you are
walking in, treat them as such!

Don't use Preview in Outlook or Outlook Express! **
Some Virus's load on opening or viewing of an email.
Don't open email from people you don't know!

** Newer Version of Office 2003 fixes this problem.

One of the more disturbing viruses to come out recently is the Maldal
Check out what Symantec has to say about this one.

It tries to fool you into taking a survey about the war in the middle east and then asks the President to kill Israel's Prime Minister Sharon.

Don't take any surveys just to be on the safe side!
Most of them are spam builders.
